Lee Min-Sook

Yang So-Nam
Abstract
This study enters the world of those caregivers who provide care for their husbands` parents, and to explore their perceptions of the situation and the context of managing and providing care. Qualitative methodologies were used; semi-structured in-depth interview with 8 participants. Data were analyzed using first constant comparative method then thematic analysis. Analysis were resulted in six derived themes-tension and conflict due to role division of caring, continuous trials and tribulations, heavy caring responsibility, self-sacrifice for keeping harmony, and hopeless future. Results indicate that although the caregiving experience is full of trials, many daughters-in-law believe that caring is their destiny. Findings from this study may be beneficial in facilitating the development of a comprehensive policy for long-term care as well as suggestion possible intervention strategies for individual and family care.
